What we offer
The services are organized around the stages of an evidence-synthesis project and around the kinds of paper that result from one. Some researchers need a complete review from the question to the submitted manuscript. Others need a single stage, such as the statistical analysis, the search strategy or the response to reviewers. Each service below can be used on its own or as part of a larger project, and the scope is agreed in writing before work begins. The process page describes the stages in order.
Medical and health sciences are the flagship area, and the same services support work in psychology, education, management, economics, the social sciences, ecology and other fields. See research areas for the study designs and conventions of each.
Evidence synthesis
Meta-analysis
Pooling of effect estimates across studies, with heterogeneity, sensitivity and publication-bias analysis.
Systematic review
A documented search, screening, appraisal and synthesis, reported against PRISMA 2020.
Network meta-analysis
Comparison of several interventions at once using direct and indirect evidence.
Bayesian meta-analysis
Synthesis with explicit priors, useful with few studies or when prior evidence should be incorporated.
Meta-regression
Whether study-level characteristics explain the differences between results.
Stages of a review
Protocol and registration
A protocol and analysis plan written before the search, with registration prepared where appropriate.
Search strategy
Search strategies for databases and registries, documented for reporting and repetition.
Data extraction and coding
Extraction forms, verified data entry and effect-size computation with documented conversions.
Risk of bias and certainty
Risk-of-bias appraisal matched to each design and a GRADE rating of the certainty of evidence.
Analysis and original research
Statistical analysis
Design-appropriate analysis of primary research data, with reproducible code and a clear methods description.
Original research support
Study design review, analysis and manuscript support for original research.
Case report support
Case report manuscripts, with attention to consent, de-identification and the CARE guideline.
Publication
Manuscript editing
Editing of evidence-synthesis manuscripts for structure, guideline adherence and references.
Publication support
Journal selection, formatting to instructions, cover letters and submission materials.
Peer-review revision support
Point-by-point responses to reviewers, with re-analysis where requested.
Correspondence article support
Letters to the editor and commentary articles within journal limits.
Choosing a service
The right starting point depends on what you already have. The table suggests where to begin, and the first reply to your enquiry will confirm it or suggest a better route.
| Your situation | Start with |
|---|---|
| You have a question and no protocol yet | Systematic review and protocol and registration |
| You have screened studies and extracted data | Meta-analysis |
| You want to compare several treatments | Network meta-analysis |
| You have few studies, or prior evidence matters | Bayesian meta-analysis |
| You have your own research data to analyze | Statistical analysis |
| A draft manuscript needs to be tightened | Manuscript editing |
| Reviewers have asked statistical questions | Peer-review revision support |
| You are not sure | Describe your project and we will suggest a route |

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a single service without commissioning a whole review?
Yes. Each service can be used on its own, for example only the statistical analysis, only the search strategy, or only the response to reviewers. The scope is agreed in writing before work begins.
Do you support fields outside medicine?
Yes. The same methods are used in psychology, education, management, economics, the social sciences, ecology and other fields, with the study designs and conventions each expects. The research areas pages explain the differences.
Do you offer full manuscript preparation?
Where it is agreed at the scoping stage, the service can extend to the complete manuscript and the submission materials. Authors remain responsible for the content and conclusions, as described in the research integrity statement.
How are fees decided?
The fee depends on the scope of the project, which is agreed in writing before work begins. Describe your project through the contact page to receive a quote.
